Frequently, people ask me why I use mainly Olive Oil in my soaps…. Some people frown upon Castile soaps made solely with Olive Oil because they feel these soaps are often “slimy” or that they take too long to cure…
- Affordable Products
- I started making soap because we wanted to buy a natural soap, but we couldn’t afford what supermarkets or even some local shops were charging. Not to mention that some of the better, high end, brand name soaps still have harsh ingredients to stabilize their products and give them a longer shelf life. The whole goal of Wise Wife Soaps is to create affordable, natural beauty products.
- Part of having a sustainable business is to understand the cost of doing business. In order to offer a sustainable product, I have to keep a low overhead. Some soap makers use every different oil under the sun… (Olive, palm, canola, coconut, neem, argan… the list goes on). This is not sustainable, unless you sell hundreds of bars of soap each week. Oils are extremely expensive. Therefore, by purchasing bulk oils, I drive down my cost of production, which ultimately drives down the overall cost of my products! It’s a win-win situation!!
- I have researched, tested, and tried my recipes to ensure the highest quality. When you are familiar with your ingredients, you are able to create a higher quality product. I have never, and will never use fragrance oils. Yes, they are cheap, but they are not good for the skin. I only use essential oils, although more costly, because of their natural smell and origins. They are better for the skin and better for the body.
