At this week’s farmer’s market, I had several requests for Patchouli scented soaps and perfumes.
To me, Patchouli has a very warm herbaceous and heavy scent. Some say it smells woody or sweet.
What can I use Patchouli for?
- Deodorant (because of its strong and lasting smell)
- Bug Repellent
- Dry skin
- Oily skin
What essential oils does Patchouli blend with?
My favorite essential oil to blend Patchouli with is Sandalwood. Other oils that blend well include: Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, Spikenard, any citrus, black pepper, chamomile, and others.

It is antibacterial, antiemetic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiphlogistic, antiseptic, antiviral, bactericidal, carminative, decongestant, deodorant, febrifuge, laxative, nervine, stimulant, stomachic, tonic (Mountain Rose Herbs) Phew, that’s a lot!
