I stumbled upon Raeanna, owner of Wild Red’s at a local craft show about a month ago. I was drawn to her table by the absolutely amazing smelling household cleaners! You don’t see things like this everyday, especially at such a great price.
I was skeptical at first, but I’ve seen so many before and after pictures of Wild Red’s in action and it works! To me, there’s nothing better than a natural and effective cleaning solution. So I definitely urge you to check them out and give Wild Red’s a try!!
WW: WW: Tell me about your business. Why did you start? When did you start?
My business is called Wild Red‘s. We make natural scented cleaners. The purpose of these cleaners is to provide effective household and/or business cleaning while scenting the area. I wanted my customers to be able to clean their home and have it smell like they have been burning their favorite candles. It’s all about killing 2 birds with 1 stone. I started this project because I couldn’t find a store bought cleaner that I liked. I felt as if everything either smelled like chemicals or smelled overly perfumed in order to cover up the chemicals. I wasn’t confident about what I was using around my pets and family, and I just felt like there had to be a better way! So, I went out and found a better way!
The business is actually very new, and I’ve only been running it a couple months. So far, we make pretty awesome all purpose cleaners and carpet deodorizer. We are also working out the kinks on some other projects, including laundry detergent, degreaser, and grout cleaner.
WW: What makes Wild Red’s Stand out from the competition? What’s different about your products?
I believe that my product stands out from the competition in a couple big ways. First, most big brand cleaners needlessly fill our homes with harmful chemcials. My product puts cleaning on a simple, natural level and allows the user to feel better about what they are using around their family. Second, cleaning companies do not provide the scent options WildRed‘s does. Many cleaners that provide scent are always the same thing: lavender, orange, and flowers. Maybe it smells good….and maybe it doesn’t. My product supplies a wide array of options for every day and holidays, including baked apple cinnamon, cranberry wreath, cucumber melon, and peppermint. Finally, I will customize orders for my customers. If I do not provide a scent they are interested in, I will custom make a scent. For example, I custom created a Wild Cherry scented cleaner for a man who wanted fruit scented cleaner for his car interior.
WW: What is your mission statement?
I have not come up with a good “motto” yet. My main mission is to provide a unique, fragrant cleaning experience for my customers. No one wants to clean, but making it better with healthier, awesome smelling product makes it better. In fact, many of my friends and family (as well as myself) report that they clean more often because they love how it makes their home smell! It’s like cleaning and aromatherapy in one.
WW: What advice would you give to someone looking to start a small business?
My best advice for people who create their own product (such as myself) is to test it out on friends and family and be open to honest constructive criticism. Find out what is good and bad from those who are close to you so that you can continually improve and make your product better.
WW: Owning a small business is tough! How do you manage home life, family life, and work?
It is tough owning a small business! On top of Wild Red‘s, I work full time as the Children’ Librarian at Children’s Hospital. I spend many evenings coming home, jamming food in my mouth, mixing cleaner, and innovating my recipes. To be honest, I do not have any children yet, so that helps a lot! Thankfully, I love creating my products and find that it’s a somewhat soothing project to do during my free time.
WW: Who is your biggest business mentor?
I don’t necessarily have a “mentor,” though I would welcome one! I mostly have a team of awesome friends and family who are running alongside me and cheering me on
WW: What is your favorite marketing tool?
So far, Facebook has been my favorite marketing tool. So much gets shared on Facebook, the scope of my business in a few short weeks (since I launched my page) has been awesome.
WW: How do your see your business in 10 years?
In 10 years, I would love to see this as my full-time job. I see myself having a steady, growing client base and a multitude of products that makes household cleaning a lot less awful!
