I never thought I’d be here. I’m about to become a mom to two babies 2 and under. That means two sets of diapers, sippy cups and bottles, and two little guys who need rocked to sleep each night.
Yet here I am, maternity jeans stretching to full capacity, eagerly anticipating the arrival of our second son.
For the past two months, my husband has been pestering me about Mother’s Day gifts. I tell him that our sons are gift enough! He’s not amused. He says that he wants to give me a token of appreciation for all that I do. As much as I tell him that it’s not necessary, he insists on getting something.
So I figure that I’ll create a list of practical gifts that he can get me! I’m not one for pedicures and facials, so I’m choosing items that I will need for baby #2, things that I would likely not spend the money on.
This little bag has 12 pockets… TWELVE! That means lots of storage for diapers, wipes, binkies, bottles, sippy cups, toy trucks, snacks. I’m just hoping it has some room for my sanity.
It’s made of durable cotton canvas and still looks like a purse, so I’ll still feel polished when I go out.
Lillebaby is due to release some new Embossed prints. I’m hoping for a grey embossed for the new little man! We are still using our current Lillebaby carriers with Baby V (who is really Toddler V now!). They are so versatile, comfortable, and durable, that I feel it’s a good investment to get another.
Plus, the embossed is extra soft. You can see how it compares with the All Seasons in this post.
I’ll definitely need it as I chase down the toddler at the park and try my first attempts at breastfeeding in a carrier!
3. Comfy Pjs (Nursing ones to welcome the new baby)
Yes, I put four different styles of PJs up there and for good reason. My #1 regret with our first newborn was that I didn’t own more comfortable (and nice looking?) PJs. I’m not making that mistake this time!
If you come to visit us once the baby is born, expect me to be comfortable (and stylish!), but mostly comfortable. I remember the lack of drive to put on real clothes for quite a few weeks after Baby V was born, and I’m sure it will be the same this time around.
Another no-brainer – when our new little man arrives in June, I’ll be spending lots of time in our bedroom. From being awake at night to nursing and napping in the daytime, it always helps to have a fresh new look.
Some of my favorite bedding sets come from Lush decor, but I’d never drop that kind of money on myself. That’s why these would make a perfect Mother’s Day gift!
5. Kids Crafts
There is still nothing sweeter than artwork made by my children! Of course, Baby V is only 2, so he will need some help from Daddy to create his masterpiece.
There are so many adorable crafts on Pinterest that involve handprints, thumbprints and/or paint. Of course, anything that my little man makes will be perfect! I really love the thumbprint pallet and funky paintbrushes for craft time. They definitely help to contain messes while still promoting creativity.
